About MacClure's ITM history & today
Timber supplies were in Murray's blood from age 20, when he started work for a local timber company called Tony De Geest, based in Whenuapai. He then spent a short time at both Maddren Timber and Wienk Industries.
MacClure's Timber came into being, officially, in 1989 when Murray and his cousin formed a partnership, establishing themselves in Spam Farm, Glendene. The main focus back then was the manufacture and supply of West Auckland with a range of top-quality trellis work - something that is still manufactured today! Four years later, in 1993, Murray purchased his cousin's shares in MacClures Timber and moved the business to a new Yard at 196 Swanson Road, West Auckland. They initially used a converted Keith Hay home as offices on the 2-acre site, which only had a loose metal yard.
Later in the 1990s, an office and warehouse facility was added and, with the extra storage space, MacClure's Timber joined the ITM association (a group of individually owned and operated timber and hardware merchants). This association now has over 80 members with sites throughout New Zealand and competes favourably with the big, corporate players in the timber market.
In 2007, MacClure's relocated to new premises, at the current location of 256 Swanson Road, West Auckland. This present site has large inside storage facilities, and a well-sealed and maintained yard, offering easy parking and a double-lane drive-through (4000m2). Although the address is 256 Swanson Road, the easiest way to find us is actually on the corner of Swanson Road and Mihini Road, Henderson.
We still pride ourselves on the good old-fashioned customer service that the company was founded on over 35 years ago. We still offer top-quality trellis, but our range of products, being an ITM associate, has expanded to cover all house materials you will need for your upcoming building project.
